It’s not often you get the opportunity to start the journey of an amazing career with minimum qualifications, but that is exactly what Defence offers you. To serve in Defence you need to be an Australian citizen, permanent residents may be considered for some positions.

To enter Defence by the General Entry route you must be 17 years or older and you can enter after completing Year 10 with passes in English and Maths. If you want to join as a Direct Entry Officer you must have completed Year 12 with passes in English and Maths, and other subjects specific to the role you are applying for. Defence complete a background check to give you minimum security clearance, you must have lived in Australia for the past ten years for the background check to be undertaken.
